The Study of Carbon Recovery from Electrolysis Aluminum Carbon Dust by Froth Flotation

A large amount of carbon dust is generated in the process aluminum smelting by molten salt electrolysis. The solid hazardous waste but contains a quantity recyclable components such as and fluoride. How to recycle more effectively challenge electrolysis field. In this study, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, other methods were used analyze phase composition electrolytic dust. effects particle size distribution dust, impeller speed, reagent addition, mixing time, flotation time on recovery studied. optimal conditions obtained products analyzed. results show that 70% particles below 200 mesh, corresponding grinding 11 min. optimum speed machine was be between 1600 1800 r/min with best slurry concentration 20–30% 5 min collector kerosene suitable for adding batches. Under above conditions, recovered powder content 75.6% obtained, rate 86.9%.
